Brian Blackburn heads into his first year at the helm for the Florida College Falcons. During his 17-year tenure as a high school coach in Texas, Blackburn has been instrumental in the success of every program in which he’s worked. 

Blackburn accumulated back to back to back regional tournament appearances, seven district championships, and is a winner of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Don Coleman Outstanding Coach Award as a head coach. He has also garnered a UIL Texas State Championship and Final Four appearance as an assistant coach. Blackburn’s 12-year career as a head coach has seen him amass 260 wins. 

Blackburn has dedicated himself to developing student athletes who represent their high schools as well as reaching their goals of playing college basketball. Coach Blackburn has ties within grassroots basketball serving as the Director of Basketball for CyFair Elite DFW Boys from 2020-2022 and as a volunteer assistant coach for Drive Nation EYBL 17U in 2023. Over his career in high school and grassroots basketball, Blackburn has coached 48 collegiate athletes and three professional players including former NBA Defensive MVP and current Washington Wizard Marcus Smart (Marcus HS). 

Prior to his successful stint as a high school coach, Blackburn was a three-year letterman at Texas A&M Basketball team from 2004-2007. During that time, Texas A&M reached the NIT, NCAA Tournament, and the NCAA Sweet 16.  

Blackburn graduated from La Vernia High School in 2003. He received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University in 2008 and his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University in 2010. Blackburn and his wife Lindsey have five children; Nora, Hatty, Bowen, Zoe, and Silas.
